As per title.
Was asked to return item to seller. Gave the tracking number to PayPal as requested within the timeframe. Returned the item with Proof of Delivery, got all the thank you messages for providing the information to PayPal and than....
06-09 Case was closed because
"We didn’t receive return shipment tracking information verifying you had returned the item to the seller. Because we did not hear from you before the deadline provided, your case has been closed."
The tracking information clearly shows that the item was returned sucesfully and proof of delivery is clearly visible.
So how did that happened? Now I am out of money and lost the item. Can anyone help me to sort this all out?

I would call them if you can.
Click on the words "Contact" at the bottom of your paypal account summary page and use the phone option (if there is one in the country you are in) > click on the "call us" option on the left (fees "may" apply so check the cost with your phone tariff first, as you sometimes have to wait a while to connect).
When you get through don't select any options just hang on till you get transfered to an agent or say the word "agent".

I had the same problem. I got email that they go the tracking, but the tracking became 'invalid' when the transit time went over 30 days. My seller is in china, so returns take longer.
I tried an appeal and a supervisor said that I had given an invalid tracking number due to it not being delivered in more than 30 days.
So Paypal's protection does not apply to chinese vendors
