I made two purchases through paypal from a company Gadget World with a website www.gadgetworldforu.com for a total of $319.98.
I went back to the website to check the status and the website was gone and the phone number disconnected. I immediately emailed the address provided on ebates receipts. Next thing you know my email was hacked and being sent spam every second on the second. 10k emails in one minute. Then an hour later my bank account was cleaned out. Luckily my bank caught it.
I filed a dispute and escalated it right away. These people had a paypal account and according to my receipt paid a paypal fee. I am praying paypal decides in my favor.
Has anyone had this happen? There really is no where for me to advise paypal of this and I tried calling paypal but it is all automated.
This has been a nightmare. I had to delete my email I had for the last 20 years and contact all my credit companies and banks...

Not enough details to help much, but you need to urgently phone PayPal customer service and do whatever it takes to talk to an agent.
No one on this forum can resolve the issue for your; it requires immediate attention with PayPal cusomter service--by phone.
What was the nature of the dispute?
What does eBates have to do with it?
What other strange links did you visit?
Were there clickable linkes in emails?

if they have a Paypal account, they probably have cleaned out the account or Paypal has restricted the account.
Paypal will review the case and refund you in full OR they may say something like there is not enough money in the account.
But you are covered by Paypal protection for item not received and Paypal would have to refund you if they cant recover from the website owner.
please review your buyer protection for what covers and what not covered.
