Shameful business practises, PayPal.

A buyer fraudulently opens a claim against me. Canada Post confirms that they delivered to that exact address listed in PayPal. I have emails from the buyer, provided to PayPal, where they acknowledge their purchase yet they did an "unauthorized purchase" claim.

And PayPal charges ME a chargeback settlement claim? What a terrible, shameful business. I'm absolutely disgusted with PayPal.

Nothing shameful; it's just standard practice.

Buyer claims the use of the credit card was not authorized.  Credit card bank agrees and refunds money to buyer.  Quite typical of faud or unauthorized use of card.

Credit card bank passes on the claim to PayPal along with the chargeback for for unauthorized card use. Standard practice.

PayPal is only any intermediary and has no way of investigating fraudulent card use.  PayPal refunds from seller account and passes on the chargeback fee to seller.  Also stanard business practice.

This is where PayPal seller protection is critical.  If the seller follows ALL of PayPal requirements for protection, PayPayPal can reimburse the seller for the item and chargeback.  So, review PayPal polcies relative to this transaction.  If so, then contact PayPal and request the protection.

It's all standard practice.

I think Paypal seller protection in regards to unauthorised use of credit card is that as  long as the seller can prove he has shipped to the address on the Paypal payment email,he is covered.

Seller may not even have to prove it has been delivered, just he has shipped the item.

Check it out on Paypal website.

Not all product types qualify for seller protection.  Requirements vary by country, so it's important to review the details.  Click on the Legal link at the bottom of the page for your details.
