NordicTrack Lemon Policy at PayPal?

In October, 20014, I used PayPal credit to purchase a product from NordicTrack. The odyssey began in November when my NordicTrack X9i was delivered. The delivery invoice specified “Inside Delivery” defined as “Deliver inside any first floor entryway of consignee’s residence”, which apparently translates to “Dump on the front lawn” in whatever language the delivery people spoke. Since it was a four hundred pound beast they’d left in the yard in a four foot by four foot crate, I was forced to unpack it out there and wrestle it inside the house with the help of my very strong, and beautiful, wife Linda. We assembled it and started it up. It seemed to work ok. I had paid an extra $149.00 for the scenery programs to watch and experience through the incline and decline functions of the treadmill, but alas, it seems that buying the membership only entitled me to purchase the programs that I thought would come with the membership. Clever girl… But there were a few programs already installed so Linda used them and I used the “Target” function to do my hour at a time. Then something odd happened – the first time I used the incline function it worked fine, raising the tread to a 5% incline. When I pushed the “Down” button to lower it back to level, the tread then inclined up even further. I mentioned this in a review I did for NordicTrack on my new product. I received emails and promises of calls which amounted to balloon juice; no calls, no help. OK – so I worked around it. I figured well, it’s NordicTrack; I should have known better than to go with a fly-by-night company like that. I could live with the buttons not really meaning what they said. But within the last week, the machine has simply turned itself off shortly after programming and starting – just dead, no power, nada, zip, zero, blanko.

I also paid extra for the deluxe premium in-home extended warranty service. So I called NordicTrack and I got the usual recording after punching in the correct responses. Except this recording told me to be standing near my treadmill with my model number, serial number and a six inch Phillip’s head screwdriver in my hand. So it seems I paid an extra $179.00 so I could be the deluxe premium in-home extended warranty service. How delightful. So I hung up and today I managed to pull it all together model number, serial number, screwdriver and phone with Bluetooth attached and made the call. That was 3 hours, 43 minutes and 36 seconds ago… 37 seconds ago… 38 seconds ago…
