PayPal supports crime

PayPal supports crime. I've bought an item on ebay, Half a year later I find out that the item is fake. I contacted paypal through resolution center. The answer was "dispute was automatically closed due to specific guidelines." So, no actions against crime.

When you bought your item you only had up to 45 days to file a dispute.

Since November the time to open a dispute has been extended but you probably would still have been out of time if you only noticed the items were fake 6 months after buying them.

Paypal can give you some buyer and some seller protection but they can't provide you with a lifelong guarantee on items that you buy.

kernowlass, I do not need lifelong guarantee on item. I would appriciate an actions agains the crime. Like closing sellers paypal accounts, initiating investigation...

Seller sold fake item and disappered from ebay. Is it some kind of business?

BTW seller had good reputation prior closing of ebay account...

IF you open a dispute in time and IF you provide paypal with proof in writing from a company that makes the genuine item that was fake then they do take action against the seller.

That is probably why they have closed his account on ebay, others must have filed disputes in time and proved he was selling fakes.

kernowlass, I noticed that the item is fake outside the paypal timeframe. Is it excuse to support the crime?

I look forward to provide all kind of proofs. Paypal just not interested in it.

Why paypal is not closing paypal accounts for this seller, why do not report crime to the police? I see no actions from PayPal.

Hi RMMM -

I'm sorry for the difficulty this is causing you. While it's true that we couldn't recover your funds for a payment that old, any dispute filed against a seller has the potential for us to make the decision to no longer provide them service. So if we start receiving claims against a seller and they are all saying that the items are fake, we may begin to review that seller's account up to the point where we decide that we can no longer provide them with service.

Even though we can't get you a refund, you definitely did the right thing by filing the dispute. I hope this helps address some of your concerns, please let us know if there are any other questions we can try and help sort out!

- Andy
