Limited access to my account

Dear Community,

PayPal decided to liimit access to my account, for using too much their Buyer's protection option (?!?!?!?!).

1- I try to avoid this protection, because I know PayPal has a strange policy about it - in reality I should use it for 30-40% of the items I receive (I'm demanding, but I also pay a lot), but I use it only for around 8-12% of the items.

2- If PayPal makes advertise of this, why don't they want us to use it?

3- Why PayPal decides to limit the account before trying to solve the issue with the buyer (in my case) or the seller? PayPal even requests this prior to open a dispute. I'm trying to clarify all with them, but I only receive automatic answers which is unacepptable.

4- I stil have 2 disputes open and other transactions ongoing - what will happen to the disputes? And if I don't get any of the transactions? Will I just lose my money? This was not the contract I've agreed with.

5- Will PayPal ever again give me access to their system?

6- Who regulates PayPal? They are providing a service (kinda of financial), but seems there is no regulatory entity for PayPal. If I've a problem with my banks I know to whom shall I address, with PayPal is kinda of difficult.

7- Is there anything equivalent to PayPal? I see tons of people upset with them, but nothing changes - so if PayPal can't change we can - suggestions? and how to oblige others to use it... 🙂

Thank you,

Idalina Fernandes

You could try Google Checkout or AmazonPayments, but the first line of defense for bad purchases is the buyer, not the payment service.

GoogleCheckout may no longer available and would be GoogleWallet now.

Hi,

thank you for your suggestion, but as far as I understood Google Wallet is only available in US...

But I insist in my questions - how come PayPal can work like this? Ditch a customer because he uses their policy of buyer's protection? If they prove I'm wrong, fair enough... But they just decide that I'm not good enough for them apparently!

Ofc you can always open a new PayPal account, but I would really like that things are done on a proper way - PayPal has no customer service and this is unacceptable.

You could contact PayPal customer support by phone and ask your questions directly.  Only PayPal can answer.

On the other hand if you are unhappy with PayPal, you can find another service.

Just an additional question... or two!

- Is my account lost - PayPal states "Cannot be appealed"

- Why can't PayPal let a customer close an account? Is this even legal in EU? or USA?

Thank you,

Idalina Jorge

PayPal has a lot of lawyers on staff so what they are doing is very likely legal.

You could review the PayPal service policies and procedures and see what your options are and under what condtions your account can be permanently limited.
