Connecting Card chip reader to ipad

When I start up my card reader I get a screen with two symbols. One with a battery symbol with a zig zag through it. Then A TRIANGLE with an exclamation mark. It doesn't connect to the ipad. Does this mean there is no power as I press the blue button top right and it comes on again. Any help appreciated ? Dan

You get no text on the screen, is that correct?

Do the 4 green lights flash on when you press the blue button to start?

Once it starts you should see the bluetooth symbol on the left and the battery fill on the right.

You should also have text on the screen as it starts.
