For some reason, every month since I can remember at around the middle of the month, none of my credit payments go through. This lasts for a few days. For example, one of my subscriptions that's supposed to get automatically charged on the 14th hasn't been going through since May. I'm only raising this issue now, because I require the credit card to pay for a crowdfunding campaign, which ended on the 11th. I only have 3 days left to pay. I also require the card to buy a limited-run product, which ends in 3 days.
I've never gotten a message on how or why these mysterious holds happen to my account and I've never really measured the exact length of time they last. I still have a lot of spending power left and I was upgraded to Extras MasterCard recently(a couple of months ago) because of my long-standing positive relation with PayPal; so I don't know why this happens to me consisently. It was even happening when I had BillMeLater, before Extras MasterCard.
Any help is appreciated.

I am also unable to simply make a payment on my account. This started after my card was "upgraded" to the Paypal Extras card as well. It says my amount owed is 0.00 and no payment options are available to me.

OK, so I called the number and it turns out that there was a block on my card for some reason. They had me verify some purchases and had it unblocked immediately. I feel like I should be contacted whenever something like this happens or maybe a message should pop up when I log into PayPal. Now I know what to do.

You should be able to access your MasterCard acocun any select wheny want to be notified of suspicious activity. If you can't do it online directly with the MC account, then call the MC number to provide the information. Generally, you should be able to select to be notifice by text, cell call, or landline number.

I agree. I am having the same problem right now. I preorderd a book on Amazon for $2.99 and I got an email this morning saying there was a problem with the payment. It's not taking the Paypal Extras Mastercard. This has happened a few times in the past too, including at least twice when I was trying to get gas for the car. It's ridiculous that we get no message or call of any kind when they decide to freeze/hold the credit card. We don't know about it until we go to use it and then find out that we can't. It's pretty embarrasing and frustrating when that happens in a store. It feels like everyone is thinking you're out to scam them. When I've called in the past, it turns out they froze my card because of "suspicious" activity, yet every purchase was by me! There has never been any unauthorized activity on my card, but Paypal has frozen it because of what they considered suspicious. And they didn't let me know either! I only found out when my payment was rejected.

Three messages through the site to Paypal about not being able to use my card and still have heard absolutely nothing. I only received three generic email responses. They said if the email didn't answer my question, I could reply. Well, I replied twice to one of them. Still haven't heard back. After posting a comment on their Facebook page, I sent a private message 4 days ago to Paypal through Facebook, and still waiting on a response. This is absolutely ridiculous. They prevent me from using my card and don't let me know. Then I contact them multiple times and don't hear anything back. If I hadn't used Paypal for years successfully, I would think this was a scam!
