Two Chargebacks on The Same Transaction?

Hello, I have a question about a disputed transaction for an item that I sold earlier this month. Essentially, I sold an item to a buyer and the buyer tried to "chargeback" to scam me. I provided the tracking info, and the money was given back to me by PayPal a few weeks later. Fast forward to today, and the buyer opened ANOTHER dispute on the exact same transaction, and PayPal has taken my funds yet again. I went to go add the same tracking info to the dispute that I added the first time to get my money back, and I was unable to do so. Under the "Action" tab, it simply says "view" and will not let me add any information, tracking, etc. Since this is the same transaction, I wanted to know if PayPal still has the tracking number I submitted from the first time the buyer filed a dispute? This is what I assumed since the "action" tab was acting as if I had already submitted information. This happened twice on the same transaction twice by the same scammer, so please bare with me. If you have any questions or need any additional info, please let me know ASAP as PayPal says I only have 10 days to submit information. Thank you very much!

For unauthorized use, there is really not much more info you can provide. PayPal will fight the case, by checking buyer log in history, IP, and transaction history, info that only PayPal has access to and look up your eligibility for coverage under unauthorized use.  You can call customer service to allow you to upload info if you want.

The buyer did not chargeback unless you were charged a credit card chargeback fee.

What likely happened is the first PayPal dispute was for Item Not Received, you supplied tracking that merch was delivered, you won.  Then the buyer likely filed a Not As Described dispute so now, you have to submit proof within 10 days that the item you sold is as described.

Am I close in describing what happened?

You're pretty close, yes. The first time was a dispute saying that he did not receive the item. I provided tracking, and won. Then the buyer filed a chargeback saying that the payment was unauthorized. I got an email saying that I need to respond, but it will not let me. Under the "action" tab in the resolution center it just says "view" and will not let me add any information to prove that I shipped the product. Any idea why this is so?

Okay thank you very much. You're a huge help! I guess I'll just let PayPal do their thing and hope that they have all the info they need. Have a great day!

Yeah, PayPal should have the dispute history at their disposal.  Good luck!  Smiley Happy

You need to know the difference of chargeback versus dispute.

You file a dispute with paypal or venue like Ebay, and you file chargeback with the credit card,if you have used the credit card via Paypal/

Did your buyer file dispute with paypal and lost, then he goes to his cc issuer and file a chargeback?

Did you get an email from PAYPAL saying your buyer has filed a chargeback, please respond?

if you lose, then there is  a $20 chargeback fee.but if you can prove the item has been delivered ,then PAYPAL will cover you.

But if the chargeback is item not as descrived,Paypal cannot cover you,you will lose and pay $20 chargeback fee.

so which one is it,paypal or creditcard?

item not received or item not as described?

The first time, the buyer filed a dispute with PayPal that the item item not received. I provided tracking showing that the item was shipped, and I won. After he lost, he filed a credit card chargeback saying that the payment was unauthorized. I did get an email from PayPal saying that the buyer has filed a chargeback and that I need to respond, but it will not let me respond. Under the "action" tab in the resolution center, it just says "view" and will not let me add any information to prove that I did in fact ship the product. Do you know why this is?

Ahhh, the plot thickens.  I think they will lose an unauthorized use chargeback.  In any case, if you are eligible for chargeback coverage, PayPal will reimburse you even if the card issuer finds in favor of the buyer.

See here for info about chargeback coverage eligibility:

This is good news, thank you! Does this mean that I don't have to provide any additional information then? Like I said in the first post, I had already submitted the tracking info as proof when the buyer filed a dispute, so I'm assuming I do not have to do it a second time (after the chargeback) since it is not giving me the option to.
