This was my first time sending money directly to a person to pay for something. I sent the agreed upon amount, and it cleared through the bank so is no longer in my account. The seller says that on her end it says "pending" and she doesn't want to send the package until the money goes through. It has said "pending" according to her since 5 days ago when I first sent the money. I'm just wondering why it says that since it's definitely out of my account, and what to do about it if there is anything to be done.

The seller's PayPal account could be under the 21-day funds hold:

You will have to ask the seller exactly why payment is still pending on their end in the quest to get your item shipped. "Money Sent"...did you send a personal payment? It is not a good idea to do that for goods and services transactions. You aid the seller in circumventing PayPal fees and negate your purchase protection coverage. Payment for goods and services which are covered by purchase protection are usually marked as Payment Sent.
Kudos & Solved are greatly appreciated. 🙂

Nothing to do with you AS LONG AS the payment is showing as completed in your paypal account?
IF that is the case then it sounds as if the seller is new and under the new seller hold.
Confirm it shows as completed your end and i can give you more info (when i have had my meal)...LOL
Advice is voluntary.
Kudos / Solution appreciated.

Seller needs to check the transaction details page. For an e-check it will take a few days to clear into the seller's account. On the seller transaction page if it shows the word "pending" it will also instruct the seller to wait until it clears. If it shows "OK to ship" then all is fine and the seller must ship immediately.

It definitely wasn't a personal payment. I've contacted the seller and hopefully she's able to figure it out. Thanks for your help

How did you send the payment?
Send & Request > Pay as goods & services
PayPal Invoice
PayPal Checkout
Every time I send a Friends & Family payment, the transaction would look like this:
Name of Recipient -$XX.XX
Money Sent
When payment is sent, the transaction look like this:
Merchant/Recipient Name -$XX.XX
Payment - Payment Description or Payment Method
There have been reports here where it turned out that the buyer was not eligible for purchase protection when they filed a dispute because the seller billed them in such a way that it was a Friends & Family payment. Click the transaction to make sure there is a link to report a problem or file a dispute and text that mentions eligible for purchase protection.
Kudos & Solved are greatly appreciated. 🙂

I used the pay for goods and services option and the link to report a problem, as well as everything else you mentioned, is there. However, like I mentioned earlier it does say "money sent" instead of "payment sent." At this point I'm pretty positive that the seller needs to take action, I'm just waiting for her to get back with me so I can know for sure exactly what's happening on her end.

Any news yet? Did you look at the sellers member details/feedback to see if they were new or not?
Payment pending could be due to a few different reasons. If the seller or buyer has a case open against them, if they have not confirmed their paypal account, if your payment is bank transfer and not a credit card type payment it can also take a while for the payment to clear. You could waste some time and just wait for the payment to clear or you could request the seller to cancel the order and buy the same item elsewhere.
Note that it might also take some time for the payment to transfer back to you and when it does it will probably apear as paypal credit rather than being transfred back to your bank. Therefor your decision might depend on how much money this is and weather or not you have the time and currently the funds to go through with this again whilst waiting for the refund to clear. Seems a shame for the seller if you choose this route if they are genuinly trying to help.
Sounds like the other guy helping you knows more than me but i hope some of this info helps. Prhaps the seller can find out what the reason for payment pending is and try to find out how long it is expected for the payment to clear.
