PAYPAL PAY AFTER DELIVERY

Has anyone been able to use the Pay After Delivery option with any retailers in the US?  I have not been able to find anywhere to use it and am wondering why it is an option for payment if nobody is accepting it, thank you.

Hi tracismith1 -

Welcome to the Forums, that's an excellent question!

Pay After Delivery actually has nothing to do with merchants nor their acceptance of it. In most cases merchants don't even know what you're using to fund your purchases, and with the rare exception can't deny you an option. Most likely what's happening is that our security models are blocking your use of that option.

Because we're making a payment on your behalf, there is an extra amount of risk associated with those types of transactions. Especially since we don't actually find out if we'll be able to collect the money for 14 days. So if you've used it recently and still have some pending transactions that haven't cleared or you've had any recent issues with your bank (such as insufficient funds returns), our system will essentially remove Pay After Delivery as an option until some of those pending payments clear or you have other bank transfers that clear, thereby rebuilding any 'trust' our systems may have lost in your bank when we received a return.

So, those are the most common reasons Pay After Delivery wouldn't be available to you. Of course this doesn't encompass every possible reason but those are the most common ones why you wouldn't be able to use it when you'd like. Hopefully that helps clear up any confusion, please let us know if there are any other questions!

PayPal_Andy,

There was a mishap with my bank at the time of withdrawl about a week ago. All payments have since cleared my bank and PayPal, but the option is no longer there.

In the scenario of insufficient/returned funds, how long does it normally take for Pay After Delivery to be reinstated? It's still showing on my account, and I'm still getting emails telling me that I have it and should use it.

Thanks

I used the pad service with PayPal quite some time ago & it worked well for me. I don't know if they stopped offering it or I decided not to use it (bad memory) but I notice it has come up again, when I changed my bank account. But the very annoying thing for me is that I'm not getting the option to use it? I looked up the details of it & it's just vague as in " may not be offered on all purchases". What  does that mean & what's the point?? As usual trying to contact  PayPal was painful, you get the awful automated answers, that don't answer what you want. Then I finally get a reply from an agent & "shock/horror", they just told me what I'd read, but in a slightly different way!!!

Many if these huge American (usually) companies are just awful to deal with that & that's why people detest them.

Anyone else have any clues on this or is it just another annoying algorithm!

thank you but I've never been able to use it since I qualified for it and my account with PayPal is and always has been in good standing, no issues whatsoever.   I still have not found any retailers that it works with and it is set as my preferred payment.. I'm not sure why it's offered if you can't use it and that seems to be the consensus for anyone who has it..

I'm exactly the same - my account (both bank and paypal) are in good standing and i've checked with multiple purchases and only with one of them did the option for PAD become available.  Why is PayPal offering a service that is so freaking inconsistent and without ANY consistent explanation as to why??  So lame.

I already answered this with my post but if you didn't see it I will just answer here.  The "Buy Now, Pay Later" option will only work if the merchant you are buying from has their own merchant credit card service.  If they don't then it won't go through.  For example the seller named 'Blowitoutahere' sells dvd's, they have their own merchant credit card service therefore you can buy movies from them and use the "Buy Now, Pay Later" feature.  Hope this helps.

Ahhhh Thank you I was going to ask the same question? My transactions are usually all buy now pay later I just bought something thru a hobby store and the payment was processed today? Is there a way you can tell before using PayPal if you can be charged later?

Thanks
