Hold withdrawal attempts until set date for NSF.

Hello all;

After poor judgment and calculation during a purchase that was made via PayPal, On Friday the 24th, I received an NSF charge.

Unfortunately, I did not notice this until the 28th when I received an alert notification stating that the charge had been placed.

The notification email stated that 'We may reattempt to charge your bank account. Please ensure that you have enough money in your bank account to cover this payment and avoid any penalty fees that your bank may charge.'

I immediately replied and kindly requested that no further attempts be made as the funds will be available on Friday the 8th.

On Monday the 4th a reply came through stating that 'Paypal Recovery Service' be contacted.

I've been trying to get through to that department for 2 days now and within that time (today, the 5th to be exact) yet another attempt has been made to withdraw the funds from my account.

While I realize that this was poor judgment on my side to begin with, I'm making the effort to resolve the situation and now with 2 attempts made within the space of a week, the deficit, due to NSF charges, is now almost double the initial purchase. Those 2 NSF charges would more than cover the amount owed.

Are there any other means of contact that can be used to make arrangements?

thank you.

This sounds like echeck,Paypal usually makes multiple attempts to charge your bank account.

when first attempt fails,it waits 2 days and try again, some said it will try 3 times, some said 2,so be careful.

It is hard to stop since it is all handled thru ACH which is run by the Fed Reserve Bank.

I was hoping it wouldn't be some sort of automatic set up, but based on what you've posted, this seems to be the case.

No wonder it's so hard to get a hold of them. My last attempt had me on hold for over an hour until I finally hung up.

When you got your email about the first attempt it was again poor judgement to not go immediately to your bank and deposit cash for the next attempt.  PayPal policies explain the 2 attempts.

As for the NSF fees they are with your bank and not related to PayPal.  You need to ask your bank if they can be waived or refunded.

In future make sure you have enough funds in your bank account to cover unexepected espenses.

Thanks for stating the obvious. Clearly I wasn't able to deposit the funds at that time, which is why I tried to make arrangements with PayPal. As already stated, the second attempt came through almost immediately after I received the first notification email. By the time I made the transfer of funds, it was too late.

you cant call Paypal to stop the subsequent attempts, only way is either deposit enough fund or close the bank account or make a stop payment which would cost you fee.

Thank you. Strange that they didn't state that in the email, based on the fact that they provided a contact for discussion. Now I know that bank accounts are not withdrawn from instantly. I've always used a credit card before now.
