Double refund

I put up some books for auction.  Someone bought them and sent me the money.  When I got to the shipping place, the shipping ended up being WAY more than Ebay said it would be so I emailed my buyer back to give him a refund.  When I tried to send him money through Paypal, it said I needed to confirm my bank account............which took about a week and 1\2 because I couldn't get it to work. So my buyer thought I was trying to rip him off....which I don't want ANYONE to think that about me..........so I emailed him a money order.  Well, evidently, Ebay sent him a refund as well, so now he has been refunded TWICE.  Is there any way I can get my money back from Paypal because I'm pretty sure he already cashed the money order............  Thanks!

No way.

Why didn't you refund directly from the PayPal payment transaction?

You are on your own when you send someone money separate from the payment transaction it is not considered a refund.  The buyer was given a refund since you failed to process a refund.
