Bank Account and Credit Card

Hello! I am new to Paypal, and I have a few questions that need to be answered. 

1) Do you need to have a Bank Account or CC to get money transferred into your Paypal balance? My friend is buying something from me online, and he is going to pay Paypal USD for it. 

2) Do you need to have a Bank Account or CC to be able to buy items online using Paypal? I am online shopping with paypal, and I was wondering if you need to have it?

If somone is buying something from you, best to create a PayPal invoice and send it so the buyer can pay the inovice.

You may or may not need all accounts linked immediately, but you will eventually.
