Why can't I pay my bill me later balance without giving you my bank account! I don't think i even said to use bill me later

I  made purchase and paid by CREDIT CARD.   I am wondering why a PayPal screen came up (after I had paid for item with my CREDIT CARD)?  Fortunately I backed out of PayPal so I would not be making a dup pymnt.
Why is PP 'contact us' screen asking me for last 4 digits of a credit card #?  WHICH CREDIT CARD?
