Stuck with a money order.

I live in a highly rural area so paypal has been my life line on keeping up with the rest of the world.

Another form of great news came to me about a week ago in which a door to door salesman came to me with information that a new ISP was in the area that offered high speed without a threshold. Which is a great thing because the best ISP right now is 80 dollars a month with a 30gb limit for that month. Sounds like a third world country to me, but I do live in the United States.

So after a few nice sales on Amazon to work up the money I arranged the install date and got a money order for $99 to give to the installer when the install finished.  After several days of going around and around with the salesman I called his company directly and they say that they offer no such service. No money changed hands yet but now I am stuck here with a money order in hand that I cannot use the local post office says they do not have enough cash on hand to cash this money order (Rural enough for you?) so I am wondering if there is a way I can get the money order pack into paypal where I can actually use it. The next nearest post office is nearly 40 miles away and there will be several weeks before I will be making that trip.

Welcome to the Community!

I can completely understand your frustration with available services in your area (I grew up in an extremely rural setting myself) and wish that I had better news for you.  PayPal only accepts funds into accounts via electronic transfers; even in the scenarios where an account is in arrears and they accept money orders, it can take a long time for the funds to transfer into the account, longer than you would have to wait for your next trip.

I'm sorry that a door to door salesman tried to take advantage of you.  That's unfortunate; make sure you report the gentleman!

Thanks!

Adrian
