Reserve out of control

How much is taken out for rolling reserve? At the moment, Paypal seems to be holding 2/3 of the money we've taken in, whch is actually an improvement over last week, when they seemed to be holding about 85% of it. But what I really don't understand is this. I'm looking at my statement, and this seems to occur over and over again. I receive a payment of $20, which means $19.46. OK, so my balance should go up by $19.46. Or if PayPal is keeping 2/3 of it in reserve, it should at least go up by $6 or so. But instead, PayPal deducts some strange arbitrary figure from my account, frequenly more than the actual payment. I am now credited with, say $24.32 less than I started with. What's that about?

You'll need to ask PayPal customer service.  Or, you could provide more details about your account and transaction history.

rolling reserve is by percentage.

As the others have said it is basically calculated on a case by case basis.  Now I will say I have NEVER seen a rolling reserve over 40% and most commonly they are set at 10%-15% so if you are sincere about the 2/3 I would think this was an error in keying in the reserve percentage.  Do you sell services or virtual goods?  I am guessing you had a few chargebacks and disputes lately.

I'm guessing you are using PayPal Here. which in most cases will reserve 100% of amount then gradually going down.
