I am supposed to be relieving a however my original payment method was on a prepaid MasterCard which I no longer have access to. Is there a way that I can have the $ put directly on my Paypal account instead of back on the card? I've attempted to contact the card issuer and they haven't been any help whatsoever.

These are some of the closest answers I can find in PayPal FAQs but they made no mention of prepaid cards:

- If you paid with a credit card, the money is refunded to your card. If the card you paid with is closed or invalid, please contact the issuing bank, as the money will still be refunded to your credit card account.

- If you paid with a debit card, the amount is refunded to your debit card. If the refund cannot be processed to your debit card, it will be applied to your PayPal balance.

- Refunds to credit or debit cards can take up to 30 days depending on the card company involved.

You may need to search your prepaid card issuer website to see their FAQs with regarding refunds to closed or invalid accounts and see what their policy is.  Perhaps they can issue new card to house the refund.  When you say you have no access to the card, was the card destroyed? Canceled?  If you still know the account number, they can look it up in their system.

Is it a PayPal MasterCard prepaid card?  If not, what brand name is the MasterCard?  Will just have to hope that the refund can't process to the prepaid and it goes to your PayPal balance.

There is always the option to contact PayPal customer service for a definitive answer.  We're just member users, not PayPal staff.

Kudos & Solved are greatly appreciated. 🙂

It is a prepaid one vanilla mastercard I purchased from my local general store. I've already attempted to contact the card issuer and they can't do anything unless I have the full 16 digits. I've contacted the store as well and they can't help. I threw the card away because I used all of the money on the card and thought I would no longer need it, but of course something happened with the merchant on paypal and I have been credited back the origianal amount and I don't have access to my card anymore. I really hope it goes back to my paypal balance because if not I am just out luck.

Hmmmm, is the card still linked to your PayPal account?  Get in touch with PayPal customer service and explain your situation.  See if they can give you a status on the refund, ie has it been completed or not.  If refund has not completed see if they can refund your PayPal balance.

Was the prepaid card account closed before you threw it away?  Was the card registered at the issuer website? Would you have the last four digits of the card number somewhere, like an old receipt or even look at your PayPal account if card is still linked and call back One Vanilla and see if they can look up the card that way?
