Business days or just days

I have been with PayPal for around 7 years and have sold several items. However I recently sold my phone on eBay and transaction was made through PayPal the purchase took place on April 15 and my money is still pending. Do they go by business days or just days in general. I want/need to buy a new phone and still waiting for my money to be released. The buyer has not made a complaint so I'm not sure why my money is still pending. Any suggestions?

Business or other days aren't counted in pending transactions.  Pending is based on other factors such as risk.

What are the details of the transaction on your PayPal activity list?

Is there an indication why it is pending?

There could be an issue with risk, so it's good to NOT use the funds immediately if and when they are available just in case of a dispsute

I am having the same problem.  In fact not only am I waiting for money to be transfered to my account that was supposed to be in one business day but they are now saying that any money I recieve it now on a 21 day hold.  I have never had a problem in the past and have been with paypal for many many years now.  I don't understand what is going on.  The email I got says that I have to sell more than $500.00 dollars in a specific time frame, have 10 successful sales, and practice good sales standing in a 21 day period.  What in the heck is this all about?  I have been using paypal for years.

Has anyone else gotten this strange email or notice all of a sudden?   I am still waiting for my money that IS MY MONEY.  I sold a product and I should be given the right to do what I want with the funds.  I have had no complaints with the customer who puchased it and if I did in the furture I would surely take care of it.

Here the PayPal policy on holds:

https://www.paypal.com/us/webapps/mpp/ua/useragreement-full#holds-limitations

Sudden changes in account activity will trigger an alert and cause PayPal to hold funds longer.  PayPal will do what is necessary to manage risk.  Some transactions have higher risk than others and funds will be held longer.  PayPal is protecting it's business against potential disputes by your customers.

If you want funds released immediately a merchant credit card account might be better.  FirstData is one such processor.

@hmersch  You got some good replies to your post and you should (if you haven't already) read the link that @DPCreations supplied in a previous post.  Mobile phones are sadly a high risk item when sold online and can be scammed very easily so PP is doing their do diligence to see if there are any indications that a claim might be processed against your sold item.  Scammers usually do thier thing pretty quickly if they are going to do it so I suspect in a week or two you will know if the sale will stick or a claim is processed.
