I'm trying to understand the breakdown of PayPal fees when receiving payments from overseas. I'd like to use this one as an example: I was owed £36.00 from someone in Japan. Current fees would be 3.9% + £0.20 fixed fee. I invoiced £37.67 but lost £2.16 which doesn't tally to the above rate. Can anyone break this fee down into easy chunks so I can understand it better?

Current fee is 3.4% + 20p for domestic UK. For cross border, it's an additional 1.8%. So it is 5.2% + 20p. You can invoice the buyer in GBP so there is no conversion fee as the amount taken in yen would be equivalent to the GBP you invoiced.

Kudos & Solved are greatly appreciated. 🙂
