Customers receive error at Paypal checkout

Paypal checkout in my merchant account stopped working on my site sometime over the weekend. After a long support call, I was told that Paypal knows of an issue and is working on a solution. Paypal checkout did resume yesterday again, for possibly and hour or two. But it then went down and has not been working since.
Interestingly, direct credit card checkout purchases are going through.
Error message: "We are unable to validate your information. Please try again. At this time, we are unable to process your request. Please return to VeriFresh and try another option."
Any help is appreciated as several orders have been cancelled because of this.

Clear browser cache and any related PayPal cookies, restart device.
