Some time ago I was caught by a trojan that gave access to my desktop PC. I normally consider myself pretty savvy when it comes to security but complacency comes before a fall.   In this case I used an app so I could send and receive texts from my desktop which was very handy for 2 factor authentication. I learnt the hard way that having access to a browser with stored passwords together with access to received texts was a recipe for disaster. I only knew there was an issue when I saw texts with requested security codes.   Since then I have removed access to phone texts on my desktop. I want there to be 2 devices for 2-factor authentication.   I have used a web browser to access WhatsApp messages for years and this is my go to platform for sending messages and photos to friends etc. I simply don't use it, nor do I want to use it for 2-factor authentication.   Today I feel back to square 1 when PayPal said I could receive a security code via WhatsApp. How do I stop this option? ... @PayPal_Dian wrote: Hey Mikexxx,    I understand that you have not been able to appeal the decision we have made. If you are not able to do this yourself I would advise to contact us so that we can review this further for you. We might be able to open an appeal for you. You can contact us when you click on 'Help & contact' at the bottom of each page or you can reach out to us on Facebook www.facebook.com/PayPal@  or Twitter @ AskPayPal .    I hope we can help you resolve this.    Dian So what you are suggesting is I should click on 'Help and Contact' on:   https://www.paypal.com/myaccount/home   Where if I click on Message Centre I get "We're sorry. Something seems to have gone wrong. Please try again later." After 15 minutes of trying I'm going to assume never.   Any ideas sucj I can move forward. Is there a way I can communicate via message or email.   Things have go to the state my next port of call is a letter before action to yourselves, eBay and the seller. Thankfully you have a UK address making things somewhat easier in the County Court.   Please take this post seriously and give a credible answer. I am not going to spend 40 minutes on a phone call just to get nowhere. This will be resolved, preferably the easy way by normal means of communication, or its going to be the County Court.   ... @PayPal_Siobhan2 wrote: Hi Mikexxx,   Thank you for contacting the PayPal Community Forum.   Not all claims may be eligible for an appeal. If you can appeal the claim the "Appeal" Button will show in the Resolution Centre under the case details and you have 10 days from the claim closure to appeal.   - Siobhan As I've already explaned, the appeal button never appeared.   How do I move forward?   ... Security of email address

I've just received an email to my PayPal address which is exclusive to PayPal and not used for any other purposes asking me to click on a link at the following domain:     http://www.endospineindia.com/   Of course there was the obligatory random looking info linking my email address after the "/" which I have not included.   This email address has only even been used for PayPal transactions, not for any other purpose.   Many other service suppliers such as Amazon specifically withold an email addresses from third parties and yet quite clearly someone I have dealt with through PayPal has passed my details onto a spammer.   Quite simply, when is PayPal going to recognise giving away personal email addresses is the biggest security issue facing users of PayPal and ought to do something about it?   If anyone should click on a phishing link to an email address exclusively used for PayPal, then surely PayPal are culpable for any consequence? ...
