This sort of situation happens when the seller accidentally lists the item with an incorrect or outdated email address. The payment winds up being sent to the incorrect email address due to the listing error, and as a result, the seller can't claim the payment.
From here, there are two main options.
First, check the status of the payment. If you have a cancel option next to the payment, cancel it. Then use the Send Money feature to send the paymen to the correct email address the seller gave you.
If there isn't a cancel button next to it, file a claim via PayPal for Non-Receipt to start the refund process.
