I'm sorry to hear of the confusion regarding Facebook Messenger Receipts. It sounds like the computer you were on during a purchase was also logged into your husband's Facebook account. During the checkout, there was a checkbox to link the PayPal account with the Facebook account, and that must have been selected.
This article has instructions for disabling this preference. You can also check to see if you have any billing agreements set up with Facebook by following these steps.
