Seems Mastercard is on my side, however..   Thank you for contacting Ask MasterCard.   We are sorry to hear about your situation. As a MasterCard cardholder have peace of mind knowing that the financial institution that issued your MasterCard won't hold you responsible for "unauthorized transactions." Zero liability applies to your purchases made in the store, over the telephone, online, or via a mobile device and ATM transactions. As a cardholder, you will not be held responsible for unauthorized transactions. ... View more

Sorry, I'm not familiar with etsy. However a quick search turned up this:   How PayPal Works on Etsy https://www.etsy.com/help/article/28903169295   It looks like they have it integrated into their own system, so you may not have to do anything extra. You might also have better luck finding answers in their  forums.   Interesting what you find while answering questions. Hope I could help at least a bit. Good luck!     ... View more

Hi Flatfish, I just watched their intro video and it was very interesting. They stock your items for you and process the sales orders you send them. Neat!   I've been working on my Paypal ipn system for about a month, so I'm really a complete noob at this. However it's almost complete.  That is, up to the point of processing a completed sale. I'd be happy to share the code, and it should be simple to interface to their system, as long as the ipn data from Paypal has all the information they need.   However, I did find a lot of professional packages online, that appear to work with Paypal ipn system. Don't know anything about them, and really that was your question to begin with. They looked complicated to me, so went my usual route and possibly re-invented the wheel.   Please post updates on what you find. ... View more

Extending the idle time of ipn simulator

by mickleham_walt Contributor in About Business (Archive)

Hi just wanted to suggest that, if possible, the idle time for the ipn simulator should be extended a bit.   It's frustrating to make changes to your code, then go to the simulator and find out you have to log in again. This has happened countless times, out of the over 300+ simulations that I've run. I could learn to code better :), but in the meantime please extend the idle time if possible.   While on the topic, it would be nice if the values you entered during a run persisted into the next simulation, with the possible exception of the transaction id.   Thank you ... I don't think you are missing anything. It used to be a very easy thing to do, with an easy to find 'issue refund' button. I have one of these cases at the moment. The steps below appear to lead to a refund, although I'm not sure if it's equivalent.   At the bottom of the resolution center page there is a box titled 'Resolution Center cases'. Select 'view' on the right most column. The destination page has 2 buttons at the bottom: 'message buyer' and 'send offer'.   I guess you could use 'send offer' and enter the total purchase price. I can't find any other way. ... View more

Hello Tanha, can't give you expert advice, but I had to chime in just in case you are about to make a mistake.   First, as far as I know, you do not (at least in US) give your paypal account number, if this even exists. You give your buyer an email address which is registered in your Paypal account. The buyer can then send money to this email at Paypal, and you will receive it.   You say you already have an account. Log in and check that the email paypal has for you is correct. This will be the email paypal will use to notify you that a payment has been received. This normally happens very fast if the buyer used a credit card, or sent you funds from their own paypal account. It may take a few days if the buyer used an e-check. Either way, paypal will send you an email, so double check that the email in your account is correct.   As far as linking your paypal account to a card, I can't say. In the US, you enter your bank information in your paypal account. No transfer takes place between your paypal balance and your bank account, unless you have made a paypal purchase and there are not enough funds in your paypal account to cover it.   Apart from this, I believe that all transfers between your paypal account and bank have to be done manually. From paypal, you can tranfer funds to/from your registered bank account.   Also, as just some personal advice, paypal is a big a complex system. Sometimes unexpected things can result from buyer/seller/paypal interactions. It might be wise to have a separate bank account just for dealing with paypal business, and not expose your main bank account with all you money in it. Just in case :). ... View more

Verifying ipn data more than once. Is that ok?

Hello, I am implementing an ipn listener. On receiving an ipn message from Paypal, the message is sent back to Paypal to be verified that it actually came from Paypal. I have my listener working up to this point, and do receive the verification from Paypal.   Now, to keep the ipn listener responsive, I am offloading the back-end work to another script. However, I would like the back-end script to again verify that the original ipn message came from Paypal.   Is it ok to have the original ipn message, from Paypal, verified twice? ... View more

Hello, I can't contribute much info but I would be interested if you find the solution.   Recently I changed my paypal buttons to the secure type, where the email address does not appear in the button code pasted on my site. I believe it was after this that I had to call paypal an ask why payment notifications were not being sent to the email addresses I was used to. I received the same answer: Notifications are always sent to the primary email address.   I'm pretty sure they were not, before I changed the paypal button code. The solution I chose was to create a new primary email , paypal@mydomain, then filter the messages to whatever email account I had set up for that type of transaction. ... View more
