I am in the same boat and yes, anything above a certain price point is the issue. Below $200 I can use Smart Connect. Above? Nope! It does not work. Called both eBay and Pay-Pal and each blames the other. This is insanely frustrating.

Actually, in the end I was able to do it. It's just that the option was not presenting itself properly due to a likely formatting error with Chrome. There was a selection button that had no text and I guess that maybe if I clicked that and hit next, it would do what I wanted and low and behold, the next screen showed it using my Pay-Pal balance and then the SmartConnect for the remainder.

I have $75 in my PayPal account. I would like to make a purchase for an item that is above my PayPal SmartConnect limit. About $65 would cover it. But no matter what I do, I cannot check out using that Balance and SmartConnect. It wants to put everything on my SmartConnect card. Why am I unable to use my balance? What gives?

OK, this is beyond frustrating. My claim with a fraudulent seller from iOffer has reached the stupid point. He gave Pay-Pal a FAKE/FALSE tracing number, likely to delay action and allow him enough time to pull his funds and close his bank account. All Pay-Pal has to do is run the tracking number to see it is not valid. Pay-Pal now lists this as "Requiring your action" (as in me) but when I log in, there is NOWHERE to actually update the case! Nothing. Nada. Zip! If I do not update the case, it will close automatically. How am I supposed to update this case if there is no way for me to update the case? I have been trying to figure this out for hours! WTF?! Can someone please tell me if I have gone mad?

While that sounds reassuring, I read countless posts here from people who were scammed, especially through ioffer, and Pay-Pal didn't do a thing about it. If the item was shipped from another country, Pay-Pal just said, "Sorry, we won't help you" and that was that. This is why I ask about the SmartConnect card's protection, if there is any.

I have looked and looked and cannot figure this out. I am in the middle of being ripped off, most likely. What I want to do is look up the so called verified member who sol me an item on iOffer and see about his past transactions, reputation, etc. years ago I knew how to do that but things have changed and I just cannot find out how. Is this still possible? Thanks

So what sort of protection, if any, are there with PayPal Smart Connect? Should a seller (from iOffer) send a fake item (fake watch or bag) or not send the item at all and the Smart Connect was used for the purchase, what happens? I am in a situation right now where I know the seller is a fraudster and has pocketed my money, but it is too early to prove it. I know I will not give Pa-Pal the money on the SmartConnect should I not receive my item. No way. Why would I pay for something I have not received? So will I be forced to cancel my Pay-Pal account and be done with them? Obviously I'd have to clear my bank info or even close my bank account to prevent Pay-Pal from **bleep**ing me. Or is there protection against fraud since this is essentially a credit card?

I've not figured this out. In the past, say an item is $1,000. I have $200 in my Pay-Pal account. I want to pay using my Pay-Pal Buyer's Credit, but AFTER also using the $200 balance. So $800 credit. But in the past it wants to use all $1000 buying credit and won't let me use my balance. Is there a way around this? Seems strange to me.
