Hi,
I made a purchase on a website called Techspot Electronics (techspotelectronics.com - stay away from them, they are a fake ecommerce site). Once I realized there were no responses to requests for shipping info (I got a reply from a bot to wait a few days and then nothing after that) or any other order update status, I raised a dispute with PayPal.
PayPal immediately denied the dispute claiming the expected receipt data had not arrived. Fair enough. After the expected receipt date passed with no response from the seller, I appealed PayPal's decision with additional material showing the lack of response. PayPal said they would get back to me in 5 days. That was on Oct 24. Since, then every 5 days when I check on the appeal status the resolution date gets pushed back another 5 days. They have played this game 5 times now. So, has anyone had an appeal resolved when PayPal said it would do it? Does it resolve the problem to your satisfaction or is it always a rejection? I see what these sleazebags (techspot and their enablers, PayPal) are doing here: a) running the clock past some statute of limitations and then saying they can't do anything b) PayPal is serving as a front for fraudulent stores. Here's what I intend to do: 1. Never use PayPal checkout again (I made the mistake of using my bank account as source of funds, and not my credit card, the credit card company would have been more helpful 2. Call my congressperson and Senator about supporting the new CFPB guideline to regulate PayPal like a bank or actual credit card company and make them responsible parties to transactions 3. Put this on social media In the mean time, I urge you all to delink your bank account unless using it for person-to-person transfers.
