I received an e mail from "[removed]" saying that it had flagged a suspicious payment request on my account.  I went to my account and found two payment requests which were fraudulent.  I cancelled both.   How much, and what personal account information does someone need to make such a request?  Do they need to know my e mail address?  Anything else?  Should I change the email address on my account?  Anything else? ... Cannot send money: your preferred method of paymen...

I tried to send $10 to another Paypal user's account. My preferred method of payment is the funds in my Paypal account.  There is more than enough there to cover the funds I want to send.  Yet after I input the amount and clicked proceed, I got a "your preferred method of payment is not available" error.   What does this mean, why am I seeing this, and how do I fix it?  I do not want to use other methods of payment on my account. Please read my original post again. It says nothing about being a non profit or wanting to register as a non profit. I am not a non profit. What I want is for readers (family and friends mostly) to be able to donate or subscribe on an annual or monthly basis to support my blog. Not non-profit. I write a personal blog and want to set up a way for readers to make monthly donations to support it. Since many of the donors would be friends and family I want to set this up so they can donate without a fee. But from what I'm reading you only set up subscriptions or recurring payments with a business account. I want to maintain a my account as personal. Is there any way to do this with a personal account? ... View more

When I called paypal security they told me that what may be happening is that people engaged in fraud may be testing your account to make sure it's active. But I wasn't clear beyond that what purpose this served. I've had 11 of these transactions, but none in 2 months or so. I'm certain they're fraudulent & that the individuals either don't exist or that the identities named as donors don't exist. If you receive donations that don't appear legitimate I would refund the funds immediately to avoid having the hoaxster dispute the transaction. Then you face weeks of waiting to clear the transaction. I've still got one in dispute from September! I wonder if it's possible for you to force every PayPal donor to check a box which generates an email back to you that ensures a real person rather than a bot or script created the donation. ... Suspicious donations

I accept Paypal donations on behalf of a blog I own.  In the past two weeks, I've received a series of $1 donations from individuals whose names are unfamiliar.  I have never received a donation in this amount before via Paypal.  So far I've received 5 of these donations, each supposedly from different individuals.  The first person who made such a donation then disputed the donation.  Because the matter is in dispute, I could not refund the funds to the donor.  I had to call Paypal to notify them that I did not solicit the donation, did not bill the person for the donation, & know nothing about what happened.  Paypal told me to e mail the person saying that if they removed the dispute I could then refund the money.  I did so, but the matter remains in dispute.  I wonder whether the individual's e mail address is even real.   Since several others of these donations happened immediately afterward, this is starting to look like a pattern.  Should I refund the money of all the donors before they can claim a dispute?  Anyone else know why this may be going on?  Does someone want to **bleep** up my status with Paypal so I can no longer accept donations? ... I can't do it in a desktop or using Mobile app. Instructions say to log out and then click on Update. When I do this on the desktop there is no Update button. On mobile app I don't see any way to do this at all. ... View more

Someone in the UK wanted to donate to my Paypal account using a Visa debit card.  Paypal would not accept the card, but it would accept a Halifax Bank Mastercard. Another donor in Switzerland also told me Paypal would not accept his form of payment. What restrictions, if any, are there on forms of payment from overseas? ... View more
