What is the "yearly" definition and limit on Green Dot MoneyPaks?

HI-

There's a smartphone on ebay I would like to buy that cost $320.00. I do not have a bank account so I would have to buy Green Dot MoneyPaks and deposit it into my paypal account. I just found out there's a $250.00 per year limit on Green Dot MoneyPaks.

My question is this- what is the defination of a year? Is it from Jan 1st to Dec 31st?  If that's the case, i could deposit a $250.00 Green Dot MoneyPak into my account today. Then deposit another $250.00 Green Dot MoneyPak on Jan 1st. This way I can purchase my phone for $320.00 in Jan and have $180.00 to use for the rest of the year.

Or does the year start when I deposit my $250.00 Green Dot MoneyPak into my paypal account and would have to wait another year before I could deposit another $250.00 Green Dot MoneyPak into my account.

Anyone have an idea on this?

Welcome to the boards!

It's actually $250 per month (not per year), although you can lift this limit by verifying information when you try to add more than that.  Once you have successfully completed that check, you can go as high as $4,000 per month.  I would recommend lifting the limit via the presented verification process - you'll automatically be presented with it - and then you won't have to worry at all.  Smiley Happy

Well- I saw the $250.00 per year figure somewhere on this website so someone needs to change it. But thanks for the correct information.

Oh no!  That's not good.  I'll do some rooting around and see if I can locate it.  Once I do, I'll let our content folks know so there's no further confusion.

If you or anyone else happens to find it, let me know!

Thanks!
