Holding funds from sellers until the buyer leaves feedback is the worst idea EVER! Since when does Paypal become an authority on buyer satisfaction?? A smooth transaction is all that I wanted from Paypal. If they are going to hold funds, then they should make it very clear BEFORE you use them! Keeping my money in their account for 21 days is a HUGE disadvantage of using Paypal. Stick to transferring funds, not trying to be a satisfaction authority!

I have been selling on ebay for a very long time and three months ago they started putting a hold on all of my payments. They keep telling me each month that they will review my account and stop the holding. I have ONE negitive feedback in which I gave the buyer a FULL refund but they still left the feedback. I have slowed my selling on ebay down and when I do list something it's something I think will sell for $50.00 or less and I only sell a few items and then wait for PayPal to release the funds, withdraw them and list a few more items. They take their fees out just as soon as they receive MY payment from the buyer, why should I have to wait for my payment and what right does PayPal have to hold a buyers payment. I've been selling a lot of items on Craigslist and it's getting better there. I just sold a pair of speakers for $325 that are selling for around $440 on ebay. However, first I don't have to wait on my payment and second I SAVE the eBay and PayPal fees which have gone up every year.

I have been selling on Ebay since 1998...I have over 5200 feedbacks...Paypal has been holding my funds because I have a low shipping time rating due to the fact of Mother Nature...I live in New England and we had to put up with a Tornado and Hurricane this summer...I emailed my customers telling them that I would not beable to get to the PO to mail packages for a week or so due to the extreme weather situations...They all said they understand, but, when it came time to leave my ratings, they choose to leave a low rating for shipping times. So, due to that, paypal is now holding my funds...Very, very , unfair...I called Paypal and told them of this situation and they said there is nothing they can do...
Just thought I would explain my situation...
Very unfair..

freshbru,
As you and I and most sellers on eBay know, PayPal and Ebay are 100% for the buyers, sellers have know rights. I do not know what it will take or how long it will take for eBay to realize without sellers there will be NO buyers. I've cut down selling in eBay since they started putting a hold on my payments considerably. I went for paying eBay fees of $150 + a month to $6.00 a month.

i have a hold as well i have 126 sales and 100 percent on my dashboard but to answer your issue i asked them if i have no customer issues or negative feed back if the holds will be taken off when they review my sales and he said it should but if i stop , slowdown or increase sales the holds can stay on for longer because there is a change in my selling record so if i sell more they might keep holding my money if i sell less they might keep holding my money ^!%$@# dose that make sense to anyone

Yep I agree. This is the first time it has happened to me. I sell something maybe once a year, been a paypal member and ebay member for years maybe a decade even and I have NEVER had an issue. 100% positive feedback. But simply because I don't generate enough fees each month they are now keeping my money to earn interest to replace the fees. Ridiculous! This is the last time I am a seller.... Craigslist here I come.

I say to you all.... tell paypal and ebay good-bye and say hello to craigslist. It's free to list, no shipping hassels and best of all... NO HOLDS ON YOUR OWN MONEY! We have 100% feed back and have been members for a couple of years. Last item sold almost a month ago and they are still holding our money. BOO PAYPAL & EBAY!!! I think that was my last time selling with them.

I firmly agree!! I have spent thousands on eBay and paid through Paypal for almost 5 years. 100% Positive feedback. I have done some selling but mostly purchasing and last week a seller that had listed an item that was Not As Described sent me a refund for $104 and Paypal put a hold on the refund instead of putting it into my Paypal balance. I was on the phone with eBay twice and Paypal twice about it. They told me some BS about them having to front the payment to the seller to begin with and they were holding my refund for a few days for some other BS reason. Told me I would have it by Sat.. This is Monday, im still waiting and will probebly have to wait for awhile longer, if I ever even get it. I have Never had any kind of problem with eBay or Paypal before this. I'm like you, I think I through.

This may be the last straw with Paypal if I don't get my money soon. Shipped my sold item through Ebay. Buyer received item on 9-28-11. Have yet to see my money released but you can bet that Ebay and Paypal already took their cut out of it. What's worse with no balance in my account until this hold is released they keep pulling money from my bank account. What if they do that and there's no money in the bank account. Are they going to pay the charges incurred at the bank. I think not. Are they going to pay the interest on my credit card if they charge things to it while I'm waiting on money that is already mine to be released. Why are the good Ebayers and Paypalers being punished for the few bad eggs.
I'm already fed up with this new payment hold, especially when I've never had one single problem since I started selling in 2007.
When are they going to realize they're going to lose alot of sellers over this wonderful new policy?
Tired of waiting on something that is mine........ NOT THEIRS!!!!!!!!!!!
