Holding funds from sellers until the buyer leaves feedback is the worst idea EVER! Since when does Paypal become an authority on buyer satisfaction?? A smooth transaction is all that I wanted from Paypal. If they are going to hold funds, then they should make it very clear BEFORE you use them! Keeping my money in their account for 21 days is a HUGE disadvantage of using Paypal. Stick to transferring funds, not trying to be a satisfaction authority!

@jdbowers86 wrote:Really? I said nowhere in my post that Im going to "Take On" paypal all by myself. Way to twist someones words and make them into your own. Nice try to be comical though. Almost worked. Stand up comedy obviously isnt your strong suit. Aaaaanyways. Paypal is having backlash. It obviously doesnt care. Any self respecting company that wants to maintain a good relationship with its clients usually tries to appease the masses in a reasonable way. Say someone needed to ship an item. They cant because paypal held the funds. Paypal, being the hugely generous, understanding, and customer service oriented company that it is, would surely release at a minimum the shipping costs to the seller right? NOPE...SORRY...SOL...FIGURE IT OUT ON YOUR OWN TERMS. The buyer paid you the money but were keeping it so figure it out another way. Yeah. Paypal. Company of the year. Its not about one person speaking out, its about one person uniting with another and another and another. Its a snowball effect and hats the only way you can hit a company. In its pocket. Your humor failed. Your post failed. And your beloved Paypal failed. Have a good night forum troll.
JD,
Take a deep breath and count to 10. This surplusdude is a troller and never has anything substantive to add to these forums. I have asked for specifics but he just likes to mouth off and irritate the people here that are seeking help and good advice. Pawning something so you can ship--now there is a brilliant idea.
What I would do is contact the buyer and tell him you are going to have to refund their money--then PayPal will have to release it for the refund. If they express concern tell them that your shipping funds are held by PayPal, you have no ability to ship without the shipping funds but however it they would like to send a money order then give them a little discount, get the money order and ship. If you brief through these forums you will not be the first seller that after a sale and discovering their funds on hold have immediately refunded the buyer's funds with explanations.
Good Luck and really don't spend anymore time engaging the Dude in a back and forth discussion--it is a complete waste of time and space on this forum.
One word of advice--don't use eBay's message service as

Hey PayPal,
You sent me an email a month or so ago saying that you guys decided to LIFT ALL HOLDS because I was such a "valued cutomer". What happened to that?
I just sold some iPhones on ebay and when my buyers paid, I saw that... guess what...all the money was on hold.
Do you think I'm going to send $1700 in iphones to strangers? Why would I do that if I can just sell them on craigslist.org and avoid this whole mess? Convenience. That's why. But, it's not so convenient anymore, is it? NO.
Instead, you guys lost 5 sales, my customers are not happy at you, I am not happy at you, and both you and ebay (same company, I know) lost sales and commission.
I'm glad I refunded them. I can sell them for more on craigslist and have the money instantly, and not have to mess with kissing customers' cheeks for positive feedback.
Why treat a good customer like me like this? I've sold over $30k on ebay in the past 5 months.
This has got to stop.

I think Paypal is just asking for a lawsuit here. Withholding funds for 21 days without prior notice to or consent of account holders is unreasonable and inconsistent with their existing account terms. If this policy is not reversed I will be pulling my corporate and personal business from Paypal. Terrible idea...

I think like everybody else in the posts the eBay/papal situation has really slowed if not stopped the interest is selling in a auction.
I have done my contacts with the class-action situation and am on-board with that whole path. I find through the different informative posts how deep this situation goes with eBay/papal. It seems that they really took a great business model and ripped it to shreds.
The only alternative that I have seen that produces any resorts is the local to the cities site...I am sure people know what I mean....but the other online auctions are very small in the category that I sell in and are not a very good alternative...I can only hope that eBay/papal can understand their using the "nuclear option" in dealing with the good sellers is loosing them MONEY..I think they know what that word means..if not our discontent.

first time ebay seller here. my case is not YET as bad as some of the others I've just read...the sheer volume of irate ebayers on this lone message board is astounding. and just think of all of those that haven't ventured to this board.
just sold a TV for $200 on march 18th, with a pending payment. I am now scared to death that I will never get my money nor will I get the TV back and thus a chance to resale.
I will tell you one thing...ebay/paypal will never get my interest again. terrible way to do business. and I took down the number for the law suit in case the worst happens.
