HORRIBLE IDEA TO HOLD FUNDS FOR 21 DAYS!!!

Holding funds from sellers until the buyer leaves feedback is the worst idea EVER! Since when does Paypal become an authority on buyer satisfaction?? A smooth transaction is all that I wanted from Paypal. If they are going to hold funds, then they should make it very clear BEFORE you use them!  Keeping my money in their account for 21 days is a HUGE disadvantage of using Paypal. Stick to transferring funds, not trying to be a satisfaction authority!

I don't even sell on EBay. I have my own site but accept payments through PP. Now they want to hold the money i receive for my product. Where does their crap end? What other choices are there that function the same way?

Don't feel bad.  I just got a notice that the "funds hold" policy is being applied to my account.  I am a bit perplexed though as I have 100% positive feedback on ebay, zero neutrals, zero negatives and never a claim or refund request or dispute in my history with paypal which is many years.  I think it's time to find other options for accepting payments.  Paypal claims I am of higher risk to a buyer or so the email states.  Huh?  That's a trip considering my flawless history.  No worries though, I will just get a new payment system and move along.

What payment option are you considering?  There are a LOT of us out here looking, and totally disenchanted with Paypal.

Dear PayPal Customer Service,

I have been using PayPal for ELEVEN (11) years. Go ahead and check my business PayPal account.

Tonight I received an e-mail that funds were going to be held in my account for up to 21 days. I'm writing to tell you that this is completely unacceptable. I have never had my account go delinquent. I've never had a chargeback. I've very positive feedback on eBay.

I am in the process of setting up something where I will be receiving payments to this account starting in the next month or two. I am giving you my guarantee right now - if I am in ANY WAY affected by this limitation, I will immediately close BOTH my personal AND business account and move all of my business to Google Checkout and SquareUp.

I am not interested in receiving a canned response from you talking about protecting your customers. I'm not interested in hearing that you'll review my account every 35 days. I'm simply telling you that you will lose a customer of ELEVEN years, again, if I am in any way financially impacted by you holding my funds.

Allow me to add on - I run a software development business and work on e-commerce primarily. For years I've pushed my customers to use PayPal; I've deployed three sites in the last 2 months that use PayPal (and one upcoming that uses Adaptive Payments). This is going to change VERY quickly if this isn't resolved favorably.

I got this same e-mail tonight. This is unacceptable. I've been with paypal for a few years and I actively sell/buy on computer tech forums and ebay. Just all of a sudden out of the blue this happens. Not cool.

I'll tell you why good customers like us are having our funds withheld... PayPal wants to earn more interest on our money.  That's right, the longer they hold the money the more they earn.

I no longer offer PayPal as an option for clients to pay me.  You shouldn't either.
