HORRIBLE IDEA TO HOLD FUNDS FOR 21 DAYS!!!

Holding funds from sellers until the buyer leaves feedback is the worst idea EVER! Since when does Paypal become an authority on buyer satisfaction?? A smooth transaction is all that I wanted from Paypal. If they are going to hold funds, then they should make it very clear BEFORE you use them!  Keeping my money in their account for 21 days is a HUGE disadvantage of using Paypal. Stick to transferring funds, not trying to be a satisfaction authority!

I agree, how is the negitive posting working for you.  Obviously you have nothing else to do but to butt in to a topic and conversation that you don't agree with.  Why don't you start a topic conversation on " I AM THRILLED TO HAVE PAYPAL HOLD MY FUNDS" and see how that works for ya.  OMG, I just realized something, I bet eBay owns you too!

Good for you, more of us need to speak out and  I am going to contact the FCC and my state representatives and we all should..  Isn't there something about fair business practice?  This is a monopoly that needs to get decent competition or get broken up like AT &T was years ago..  Customer service is horrid to non-existent, they require us to only use PayPal and not money orders and checks and they not only take their piece of our sales but now have the use of our money for 21 days. How about all the bad buyers (oh, I forgot, it is only bad sellers that they need to worry about ) that will buy our items, say there is a problem, get their money back and then won't send our items back, that is what I am afraid of.  The FCC needs to look at all these demands that eBay and PayPal are forcing on its real customers - its sellers and do something about these questionable new practices that are unjust as you so correctly said.  I'll check out your site.

Well I have recently discovered googlecheckout.com. As far as I know they do not hold funds. They do only transfers, which take about two business days. Their transaction fees are the same as PayPal's. I have also recently discovered Ebid.net, which seems to have less restrictive rules about selling than Ebay does.

How would one start a site like paypal? If everyone worked together to throw together something similar to it, and it was run by the small fries like us.....I know, wishful thinking, right? But paypal started off as a small fry, too. So did ebay. There are surely enough people out there angry enough with paypal to rally something to our benefit.

Yes could start a paypal quite easily with a S corporate structure with a max of 36 ppl. Its quite easily and quickly done without all the full corporate red tape involved. each corporate member would have to invest at LEAST $1,000.00 to get it off the ground. Of course it would be a risk venture just like any new business.
