HORRIBLE IDEA TO HOLD FUNDS FOR 21 DAYS!!!

  Holding funds from sellers until the buyer leaves feedback is the worst idea EVER! Since when does Paypal become an authority on buyer satisfaction?? A smooth transaction is all that I wanted from Paypal. If they are going to hold funds, then they should make it very clear BEFORE you use them!  Keeping my money in their account for 21 days is a HUGE disadvantage of using Paypal. Stick to transferring funds,not trying to be a satisfaction authority!

I have been waiting for an item I paid over $1000 for. Seller said it was shipped. Asked for the tracking number. Haven't heard from the seller since. I have disputed the transaction as it has been over a week and a half the transaction was done. If Paypal is holding those funds, GOOD! It gives the buyer (me) a chance to make sure I am actually getting what I paid for.

Maybe the rules should be different for those who sell alot with no problems. As for me I'm the buyer. I am for Paypal protecting us.

Turn on the weather channel. A week and a half might be fine in the summer but when planes are not flying, ice and blizzard conditions strand people (and mail trucks) on the road, power is out, and you expect next day delivery? Unless it's from the state next door these conditions have to be respected. Having lived in Wyoming I know firsthand how even the interstates can be closed for days. Many of your major mail hubs are in places like Denver with mail flown in and the trucked out. Double whammy - airport shuts and hwy 80 closes. Maybe a tad more patience?

And that's if the seller can get out to mail your item.

But our gripe as sellers is when the item has clearly been delivered and positive feedback left - WHY continue to hold our money?

  My dear, when you keep reading these posts believe me you'll understand. And what's weather got to do with any of this?? Before all this nonsense stared happening folks never complained about the weather before, buyers or sellers.

RE: time for delivery, I was answering a previous post. And, if you remember, even eBay last winter posted a proviso for buyers by asking for patience due to the immense amounts of snow in the Eastern Beltway.

    Yeah, okay. But also last winter is when PayPal starting **bleep**ing people around with this 21-day hold crap! I don't remember eBay mentioning any weather delays. But I DO remember when I started getting involved in this blog and reading about people getting jerked around by having their monies held and couldn't buy Christmas gifts, keep their tuition up, or even pay their rent!!!

What about the folks in Southern California, or even Hawaii where the weather averages 80-100 degrees all year??? Girlfriend I know what you're saying but don't kid yourself and don't be naive. Ever since eBay changed hands back in '02 and inducted this idiotic hold policy in '08 it's been a shambles ever since.

   And if eBay/PayPal weren't so shady these days India and China wouldn't have shut them down. Also eBay wouldn't have gotten sued by fashion giant Louis Vuitton. Ebay had no choice but to settle out of court. And if you like, I'll backtrack on this blog and present you the links for this info, which was about 150 pages or so ago.

In my opinion, PayPal’s 21 day hold on funds is nothing more than a scheme to earn interest on hundreds of millions of dollars “OUR MONEY” under the guise of “Buyer Protection”. How about “Seller Protection” ? Protection from greedy “corporporats” types like PayPal.

I will never use PayPal again, Accolades to Google Checkout!

ANYBODY OUT THERE?  If you need a business idea, we need a replacement to Paypal and eBay.  Integrity is all I have at this point and there are thousands of sellers like me with millions of items that you could take a percentage of sales, just like Paypal.  I hold myself to a high standard.  Paypal is trying to starve me while Paypal and eBay don't hold themselves up to the same standard as myself.  I guess with all their money, integrity is the last thing these companies are worrying about.  Viva USA!

21 Day Hold!  No other company selling online holds your funds before they ship because NO ONE with a small business in the USA can afford to do this.  Make common sense common again!
