Payment Does not reflect in my account even though the invoice transaction is completed

I sent an invoice to someone. He says he has paid it. When i go to my transaction activity, it states that the invoice has been paid and the transaction has been completed. This money however does not reflect on my paypal balance. What could be the problem?
