Trouble linking Banco Popular (Puerto Rico) account?

I’m attempting to add a checking account with Banco Popular in Puerto Rico (where I now live) and it seems like it just can’t be done. Even a PayPal rep said it didn’t work on the back end when I called to have them try, but he had no idea why, had no suggestions, and offered no solutions. Is there a trick or some kind? Or at least a reason why it doesn’t work so I can find peace??? This is maddening! Thanks in advance.

Can you explain how did you manage this? This really doesn't answer the question at hand without an explanation.

I managed to link my account just now. I was having this exact issue, and I found out that the account type (even though is a checking account) was not compatible with paypal for some reason. The account I was using was an "Acceso Universitario" type of account, then I tried again using an "eAccount" and this time it allowed me to link it. So make sure you're not using a weird type of account, or just create a free eAccount and link that one with paypal.

Can you tell me how? My problem is when I search Banco Popular it only shows the US one. And when I tried to put my phone number it keeps telling me the format it’s wrong which is stupid.

Welcome to the PayPal Community! I'm sorry to hear there's been some confusion adding a Banco Popular bank to your account. I'd be happy to shed a little light here. If you have a PayPal account based in the US, you'll only be able to add a US bank account. If you have an account based in your local country, certain restrictions may apply, but if you see the option to link that specific bank, then the option is most likely available.
