Error trying to resolve negative balance with debit card

Recently I made a purchase on Steam using PayPal, which usually takes the money straight from my bank, but this time, for some reason, it took from PayPal balance, landing me in negative balance.

As soon as I noticed the problem, I tried covering the negative balance. It says paying from my bank account is not supported, so I added my debit card. The debit card shows up on the available cards, but every time I try to select it I get the "We’re sorry, things don’t appear to be working right now. Try again later." message. I have no idea what's causing this problem or what else to do.

Ways to clear a negative balance.

1. Transfer funds from your bank account via the add funds function.

2. The quickest and easiest way is to get a mate or family member to send a payment via the friends / family option. As long as they don't fund it with a card it should be free.

3. Via a card over the phone with paypal.

4. Buy something and Paypal will normally add the debt to that payment during checkout when you authorise the purchase.
