"temporary authorisation" on a Pay-in-3 transaction that didn't complete. What happens now?

Just tried to make a Pay-in-3 purchase through Argos' website. I went through the checkout process but for some reason the purchase did not complete at Argos' end. End result: no order, and no confirmation of one. 

I checked on Paypal and now have a "temporary authorisation" on the first instalment. The order didn't go through, so what happens now?

If the order does not complete then the temp authorisation would drop off and no money taken.
