Unable to make purchase from gift card and I’m not able to check its balance either after that

Is anyone else having this issue? Okay, I just bought a couple gift cards the other day to make an eBay purchase, they were activated in store, register just fine and when I go to make a purchase using the app, I get an error message saying “There's an issue with this payment method. Contact your bank to get more details or use another form of payment.” I then go to check the gift card’s balance and it tells me “ We are unable to process your request at this time. If you continue to receive this error, please contact Cardholder services by calling the number on the back of your card.” And that’s what I did. I talked to them and said to me they’ll give me replacement cards in the next couple of days. Maybe I should register it first before using. Not sure if that helps but I’m gonna try. Is there a workaround for this? I hope this issue gets resolved.

Hi there, I've got same issue. How about you, is it fixed ? I dont know this fault is because of bank of gift card, or paypal

Glad to see I’m not the only one dealing with this. I don’t know what the cause of it is either. I did talk to the cardholders and said they’ll give me replacement cards in 3 weeks. Hopefully that works.

Not buying another gift card until they get this fixed. Or I can transfer funds from my debit card and somehow transfer them to my PayPal account.

I am sorry to hear that you're not able to complete your payment with your gift cards. I recommend you to try some troubleshooting like clearing your cookies, history, cache, etc. from your browser or try using a different browser/device. You can also find the possible reasons and tips for the payment declines here : Why was my payment declined? If the issue persists, please reach out to PayPal Support Team to look into this further.

I pray either PayPal or the card holders (Joker in this case. Have Vanilla cards started working again? Probably not. Did PayPal get into a dispute with them?) will resolve this issue we’re having. I was also told through Cardholder services they don’t allow PayPal usage but I don’t believe that. Should I try using a different account? Is there any other way to transfer money from my gift card to my PayPal account as of right now? I might have to transfer money from my debit card to my PayPal account, somehow if this doesn’t get resolved on time. I registered it to my Apple Pay btw.

It could also be a bug that was unexpected occurred on my account or a bot problem. I made a new account just in case for that very reason I received this private message on Twitter: The issue could be a bot problem or a technical glitch on your account. Be rest assured, this will be looked into to and re rectified. There will be a need for you to sign in on the glitch rectification node to help clear this.
