Why do I need to pay $14,11 USD fee on a simple $242,09 USD invoice?

I've been charged $14.11 USD on a $242.09 same currency payment. This is 5.82% - far more than any of the fees that I've researched. Can you find a breakdown of the fees applied by Paypal? If not, it seems like a dishonest and untransparent service, and I'd expect more from them.

My invoice was for 6 separate items in one transaction. As far as I understand, there's a service fee per transaction rather than per item, but correct me if I'm wrong? Literature on this is unclear.

Thanks so much to anyone who can help, I really appreciate it 🙂

Hello @Ananda2222,

Welcome to our community forum and thank you for your post!

I understand your concerned about the fee charge for the payment you received. When you buy or sell goods or services, make any other commercial type of transaction or receive a payment when you “request money” using PayPal, we call that a “commercial transaction” and you will be charged with a fee to receive the money. Here's how to view the fees applied to a specific transaction:

Go to Activity near the top of the page.
Find the transaction you want to look at and click on it.

For full details about the fees for receiving payments, please log in to your account and click Fees at the bottom of the page and visit our PayPal Merchant Fees Page.

I hope this information helps!
