Refunded on cancelled credit card

I want to book a flight using my paypal account. After that I will close my credit card. If for any reason my ticket got canceled, so the refund can’t go to my canceled credit card. Does the money stay in my PayPal account?

Thank you for your post and welcome to the Community! 

If for any reason you get your ticket refunded but your card is cancelled, the fund will go directly to the bank account related to the card. If the system is not able to transfer the money to your bank, it will stay in your PayPal balance. In order to avoid any unwanted situation, I recommend you to wait until you are sure you won't need to receive a refund to cancel the card.
