Receiving money from friend in america to me in Australia

Hi, someone is sending me money from america which we agreed to do. Im from australia and they said for them to send the money i have to sent money to be able to recieve it because it was a big amount. Is this true?

Not true and a scam.

If your payment is subject to a PayPal fee, PayPal automatically deducts fee from the payment and gives you the rest. You do not make a payment before the money is sent to you.

The sender normally just sends the money if they really intended to pay you.

They're using their business paypal in America so would that make a difference
