Payments held by Paypal

Hi, This person X wished to buy my items. So we arrange that the funds to be transferred thru Paypal. So 2hrs later, he told me he had transferred the funds. When I checked my dashboard, the fund was not there. So I chatted with him again which he told me to check my spam/junk mails. In that email, it stated that they will processed and credit the fund into my account once I've shipped and send the shipment receipt & tracking to them. Is there such a thing from Paypal? Cos this is my first time encountered this.

Hi @acerizal,

Thank you for joining the PayPal Community Forum, and welcome!

Your skepticism is well placed! If the transaction is not showing in your activity, then a payment has not been received. Fraudsters will send a fake email that states that you have received a payment in the hopes that you will send the item. Sometimes it's even worse, they'll add a fake number in the hopes that you will call it for support, leading to a phishing attack.

Please do not send an item unless you see the transaction in your PayPal activity in your account. If you have already sent the item, check with the carrier to see if shipment can be interrupted.

I hope this helps!

Olivia
