My preferred Master Card all of a sudden produces denied payment?

Last night I tried to transfer an amount to my friend. The linked and preferred card is my Master Card. After all the authentification, being ready to send the payment I get a message saying that my payment has been denied and that I have to find another Payment method.
I finally did that after two denied payments on my Master Card, linking my VISA Card. The payment went through.
I have never experienced that problem before and the Marster Card is fully valid.
I have tried to contact PayPal to ask them to check what might cause this issue, but to get in contact with a living PayPal agent is impossible. How to I solv this issue?

I see that you are facing an issue while trying to make a payment through PayPal. There are several reasons why a payment could be denied. Few of them are listed in the Article. If you face any issues, you can contact us directly and have a specialist look into your account.

Hello Aswani,
Thank you for taking the time to reply to my issue. The references you give me I have already checked out, so I contacted my bank today. My advisor told me the card was not set up with 3D online security. This has been done now and I will first be able to see if this solves the issue, next time I will make a PayPal transaction. What puzzles me is I have had no issues at all prior to this. I made a payment juts a week prior to this and no problems whatsoever.
Now let us see if it solved the problem.

I have no idea what caused the problem. Called by bank but I don't think an extra online security setup was the solution. My wife had the identical problem a few days before I experienced it. My wife did not take any action and cannot reproduce the problem now. In any case the problem is not present anymore. Thanks. Anders
