Is there a way to stop PayPal from defaulting to using my PayPal balance first?

I constantly find when I set up a payment it'll default to that and I have to manually turn it off for every payment. They recently did this with funds I have in Euros that I did NOT want converted to USD, but it was done again when I set up a new payment with no option to select where to pay from. This is costing me extra money when they do this and I can't find a setting to turn this off permanently. I know I could withdraw the funds, but I was specifically keeping these in my PayPal account to cover some purchases from Europe. Please help.

You have the option to select a funding source here...
Click on the profile tab (icon next to log out) > Click on payments third option along on the thick blue band top of page > second down click on update next to your preferred way to pay and put a dot in one of the options listed.

Kudos / Solution appreciated.

I'm not sure how this got marked as solved because while I appreciate the help, this did not fix the issue. I checked and my card was still listed as my preferred way to pay. I tested it by going to pay for something on the app and it did not give me an option to select a funding source, but once again, used my paypal balance and when I go to the automatic payments area it shows that this merchant is listed as paypal balance first. When checking out I'm not given an option to select which funding source I want to use, so I'm assuming it should go to my preferred, but it is not.

Nowhere does it say this thread is solved, however sorry I only gave advice and didn't 'fix' things for you.
Guess I won't suggest anything else then.

Hello @TikiExotics and @Sfazzone85,
Welcome to our community help forum!
Thanks for the help @kernowlass! I understand your concern about your preferred funding source not been used for your purchases. When you make a payment, you will be able to select a bank account, credit card or debit card as an online preferred funding source. If you have a preferred funding source, any funds in your PayPal balance will not be used first. For payments such as automatic payments, such as a subscription or recurring type payments, we try to use your PayPal balance first. If you don't have enough money in your PayPal balance, we use your backup payment method. More information about automatic payments can be found here.
Best wishes,
Bindu
