BA and tickets purchased via Paypal always 'pending'

This issue with BA and tickets purchased via Paypal has been rumbling on for a decade. And today I fell foul of this big time. As usual my Paypal account is linked to my bank account and VISA card. Today I purchased return tickets to an expensive destination at £2,000 each x 2. My bank account is flush enough to pay for these. As has been reported many times the payment seemed to go through OK. The booking was created, the PNR was created, I received an email confirming that the booking had been made - but with the price in red (curious). I checked my Exec Club account - the booking was there. Now normally with such an expensive purchase I get an email or text of a 'secret' code to type in to authenticate the purchase. But BA's website failed to offer such an option. But I did get a code from Nationwide on my phone - although there was no instructions what to do with it. Certainly I got nothing from BA, nor Paypal. Then I checked my Paypal account - and there was the dreaded 'Pending' on the transaction details apparently awaiting BA to 'claim' the payment. Emails to Exec Club, BA Customer Services, et at, all remain ignored. I cannot raise a case with Paypal. If the booking is eventually cancelled due to non-payment the cost could rise by a further £2,000 which is way above my budget. Does anyone have any up-to-date info. as to what the h... is going on please, and what to do about it?

Companies generally use authorization and capture or two-strep method of processing payments. The Pending status is normal and means you gave company authorization to charge your account for the purchase and the merchant just needs to settle/capture payment on their end. This usually takes a few days and you just made purchase today so don’t scare yourself. Seems the order went through as you can see the booking. If the authorization is voided by BA for a valid reason and you’re informed, you might have to re-buy new tix anyway, making other arrangements with airline or the authorization expires on it’s own, the money will be released. But I think, the order processed as it should, it just takes a few days for merchant to settle out/capture payment. You can confirm with an live airline agent of BA if the tix are all set.
Kudos & Solved are greatly appreciated. 🙂
