Connecting my UPS to Paypal

I have had a Paypal account for years and was never able to use my UPS account. I have a UPS account number. For some reason when I try to use it through Paypal it comes up saying my contact information is different than what is on file for UPS. I have checked both accounts and have no idea what Paypal is referring too. My address is exactly the same in both places and I don't know what else to look for. It is very inconvenient because instead of going through paypal to print my labels I have to go to UPS directly. Can someone help me figure this out once and for all. Thanks.

I would like to clarify that mine was from start to finish and it did absolutely no good. The solution (for me at least) was to put in this arbitrary phone number 402 555 2222.
Having my actual phone number in there (again - as it was from the start) did absolutely nothing. The second I put in the number above it worked instantly.
I apologize. I misread your previous post. Putting in an arbitrary number is not a fix I was aware of. I am not sure I would recommend it if I did. Even as it addresses one problem, having inaccurate information on your account can pose other problems. My best advice is to make sure that you have correct numbers on your account. I'm not sure why your real number would fail while a fake number would not. I will definitely pass that information along to the engineers. Maybe it will be a clue that can aid in repair. Thank you for bringing it here.
Thanks also for the image of "Scrooge McDucking dabloon-filled pools". That made me chuckle.

I don't usually join in on forums but I had to let you guys know that after trying everything this actually worked. I put in the 402-555-2222 number and bingo. This has to be some sort of glitch in the system and I can't believe this has not been fixed.

This User ID already exists. You have entered an invalid value.
I've tried to link my UPS account to my Paypal account every few months for MORE THAN A YEAR NOW.
I just tried the fake phone number trick, which didn't work for me.
JESUS, PAYPAL, WHAT THE **bleep**.

Glad to see I'm not the only one having this problem. I've contacted PayPal support several times and they treated me like a complete moron every single time. Honestly if there was a comparable service I would never use PayPal again. But, there's not. So let's get this fixed, agreed?
I've tried all the solutions listed in this forum:
Fake Phone Number
New Account
Existing Account
Deleting Existing Account
etc.
I'd like to just give up on UPS and use USPS for the packages I need out soon, but of course that isn't an option. Why on earth do I not have the option to use a different carrier?
I can hear my eBay feedback score falling every day I have to explain to a buyer that I can't ship because PayPal has a backend problem. Doesn't go over very well.

I've finally got this to work after a year of trying to get UPS working. The phone number I used was the 402-555-2222 but not only did it have to be in the international shipping phone number but also your default phone number in your profile. For those of you still trying to get it working try this out.

This is the most annoying thing ever! I've tried most everything too and it doens't work. I haven't read all the pages, but how do you delete the accounts to try again?

Add me to the list of sufferers of this problem! Was talking with UPS yesterday about it. They can't help. Called PayPal today and the confirmed all my errors. They asked me to take a screenshot of the error message and send it to them.

I have spent all evening trying to solve this. I read through this thread. Changed to the fake phone #, even adding it to my UPS account, and nada. I guess I'll have to go to UPS tomorrow. It's shameful that this situation had not been fixed and very frustrating. I usually ship USPS, but due to a quite heavy package was trying to use UPS through paypal, but no go!

Ah yes, the monopoly power to operate (or not) with indifference towards the customers that pay the fees.
Only in this world, it is acceptable for PayPal CS to cheerfully step people through solutions that don't work while our customers wait for product to be shipped and our ratings hang in the balance. Only in this world, is it acceptable to delete an account with discounted rates and replace it with one -- or a thousand -- that may or may not eventually have discount rates when product has to ship TODAY regardless of how much time was lost or how difficult or expensive it is going to be.
Every PayPal CS who recommends deleting an existing UPS account that has discount rates should work for 10% less for a week. That would be OK if your pay rate eventually goes back to what it was before, right?
Higher rates, prevailing unreliability, and much wasting time of people's time with false solutions while this problem literally prevails for years...dating back to 2008 or 2009 at the latest?
This is the ultimate promotional campaign for ShipRush! With or without ShipRush (for now), I am done with unreliable time-wasting and poorly supported eBay/PayPal shipping and all future promotions for it.
Not to worry eBay/PP, as you can always create a bunch of phantom shipping accounts and pretend that I'm using them if that works just as well as earning my goodwill and confidence for your present and future services.
