problem sending money

I sent a payment  for a product but the recipient hasn't recieved it. I sent it yesterday.  I even emailed him the transaction ID and everything and nothing's coming up on his end. The status of the transaction is UNCLAIMED.  Can someone suggest anything?--I was thinking to cancel the transaction and just send him another payment but I didn't know how long it would take to do this and get the money back that I already sent.  Does anyone know this by chance?  Any help will be greatly appreciated
