Money sent from Upwork.com to Paypal account that doesn't exist, have I lost my money?

Hi Community,

Having a slight issue with Paypal + Upwork.com in which Upwork automatically pays your Paypal account on scheduled days and if you tell it to send it to your Paypal account it automatically sends it to your email associated with Upwork, which is NOT my paypal email address.

The account it's sent it to is not registered. If I register the account will I be able to accept the money? If not have I lost my money?

I can't cancel the send request due to the fact i'm not in control of it.

Hoping for help, have contacted the Upwork team but they are very slow to respond.

We’re sorry to hear about the challenge.

Yes, if you will link and confirm the other email address on your current PayPal account, the money will clear to your PayPal account. Otherwise if the email address in not registered and confirmed on another PayPal account, the transaction would be automatically cancelled after 30 days.
