Making a Buy it Now button work

I have logged into my account, and generated a Buy Now button no problem. The problem is that when I put the code in the description of an item, it just adds the item to the cart, and doesn't take the customer to the PayPal page to pay.  So any ideas what I am doing wrong please?

Hi PammyGlad, 

It sounds like you may need to edit your button. When editing the button please check that your email address from your PayPal account is listed to accept the payments and be sure to copy to code provided. 

If you have moved your button on your website since you set it up it may just need to be edited and re-added to your website.
